Scott Benefield received his MFA from Ohio State University in 1990 following a year spent in Sweden on a Fulbright-Hays grant. He has been an artist-in-residence at the Toledo Museum of Art, the Corning Museum of Glass, North Lands Creative Glass, the Creative Glass Center of America and the Tacoma Museum of Glass. He was a visiting scholar at Osaka University of the Arts in 2009 and a recipient of a Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust award in 2013. He is a past president of the Glass Art Society and was given their Lifetime Membership Award in 2011. In 2015 he was given the Rosy James Memorial Award by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland, in recognition of his achievements in contemporary craft. He currently lives and works in Northern Ireland.
