The sky’s the limit

08-Aug-2017

By Emily Chalmers

After a few nights sleeping under the stars, I’m home again in the city and appreciating the tranquility a touch of sky can bring to a room…

Sky is often closely followed by cloud, within interior decoration as well as above us, it appears! I love the cloudy papers and linens offered by Fabrics & Papers. Their stormy grey etched cloud design would look just fabulous in a modern monochrome setting, and I’m sure I could lose myself in daydreams of flying with their graceful Swallows…

Artist Zoe Rumeau has taken inspiration from above with her pretty collection of star, moon and cloud lights. The proud owner of a star light myself, I love the quirky ambiance these give to a room.

If you’re yearning to add a hint of sky to your surroundings, there are a growing number of online stores offering an infinite number of photographs (and the possibility to upload your own image) to create wallpapers, murals, prints, posters and stickers.

Mmmmm, a sky wall in mint and blush tones, please! Then I could happily grab a soft cloud pillow by textile artist Donna Wilson, and put my head down for a few minutes…

How about cloud and rain plates doubling up as decoration? Yes please! I love this shot taken in Donna’s own home, showing her plates on display…

And a Rainy Day Blanket would do me fine, whatever the weather…

Might it then be odd to walk on the sky? After seeing artist Jan Kath’s Baroque mural inspired Cloud rug collection for Front I don’t think so!
