Big Blooms

Florals in our homes - romantic, dramatic, traditional, contemporary. Celebrating life, femininity and diversity, what better muse than Mother Nature? Floral inspired interiors vary as much as the petals themselves and I’m fascinated with the transformation a big bloom can have on a room.

Mr Perswall’s Blossom captured perfectly in the home of, and by the camera of Sofia Vusir Jansson at MokkasinTaking inspiration from the Dutch masters, artist Ellie Cashman creates amazing oversized floral designs that truly transform. Ellie sees flowers “as powerful symbols that express the whole range of human experience”. She refers to this as “the wonder in us”, also the name of her beautiful blog.

Back to our walls and, thankfully, easy to apply, Surface View offers huge stickers to add the drama. This maximalist image house has just released a fresh batch of archived Dark Bloom prints which feature vivid Dutch still life paintings. Blooms on black are officially back - now, that’s a whole other story!

I love the way Ros Anderson transformed a simple top landing with the help of an oversized oil painting. I also adore how she’s teamed with the tall dark skirting and door frame. And those wall colours….

I shall leave you with big blooms on overdrive and the words of Diana Vreeland, “I wanted this apartment to be a garden…”
