PRESS RELEASE: Top Drawer A/W18

For the Pun of It: Illustrator Sarah Edmonds to showcase expanded gift collection at Spotted

Sarah Edmonds loves a good pun. Her playful nature designs are eye catching and colourful, and have gained a growing following in shops and online. To coincide with her first trade show, Sarah will be launching new products at Top Drawer to sit alongside her bestselling wordplay range. Joining the bird charts of Tits and Boobies will be ‘Hooters’, a striking design identifying some of the world’s owl species. All of these designs can be found on tea towels, cards, art prints and badge sets produced and printed in the UK. Top Drawer will also be the first reveal for a 2019 wall calendar, featuring an array of humorous educational charts and Sarah’s signature typography. A separate range of striking natural history illustrations will also be available.

Sarah says: ‘I create my designs using a mixture of paint, crayon and digital drawing software. Having grown up on a farm I spent hours exploring the forests and wildlife surrounding me, and this is a huge inspiration to my work. Having originally studied English Literature, I love to play with language and communicate with people through my illustration. The double meanings of my fun pun range do just that - they grab people’s attention, raise a smile and sometimes an eyebrow or two!’

Current stockists include Somerset House and the Garden Museum in London to a growing list of  independent retailers from Hastings to North Wales. Many are frequent customers, and the bird puns have a reputation in stores for flying off the shelves! Internationally, Sarah supplies to the Ornithological Institute, Birdlife Sweden and looks forward to the opportunity to introducing her work to new buyers at the show.

Alongside her product range, Sarah works frequently with museums, charities and children’s publishers. Her forthcoming children’s book, My RSPB Nature Craft Box will be published in October by Walker Books. Sarah is a self taught illustrator, originally from South Wales now living and working in Worthing.

Sarah will be exhibiting on stand SP145 in Spotted at Top Drawer - September 2018.
