Difficulties of marine plastics recycling

Difficulties of marine plastics recycling

It is difficult to recycle marine debris in some reasons.

Currently, most marine debris is burned in incineration plants or and filled.

First of all, it is almost impossible to separate marine debris by types of plastics. There are many kinds of plastics and each plastic has each feature, strength, and melting point. If plastic is molded by mixing materials with different melting points, the machine will break down. That’s why you need to separate plastics by type to recycle basically. However of course, marine debris is not named so we cannot separate it accurately.

Secondly, once in the ocean, marine debris is exposed to sunlight while drifting on the surface of the sea or being washed up on the shore. As a result, plastics has deteriorated more and more. Furthermore, plastics are made from petroleum so they absorb oil-pollution by the nature of plastics.

Finally, the amount of marine debris is too much to recycle even if it were collected in the first place.

For these reasons, marine debris has not been recycled.

However buøy use our skills and knowledge to make it possible.

As a plastic manufacture, we take plastic that has been thrown away once and turn it into plastic that will never be thrown away again.
