When you first encounter Motif, you realise quickly that this isn’t confectionery as you know it. It’s art. It’s storytelling. It’s the quiet joy of something so thoughtfully made that you want to keep it long after the last taste has gone. Motif is redefining the world’s most consumed treat — the humble mint — and transforming it into a beautifully designed, reusable, design-led object. And behind this small revolution is Kirsty and her team of artists, creators, and makers.
Where creativity meets confectioneryMotif began with a simple but striking observation: everyday mints were functional, forgettable, and disposable, yet universally used. Why shouldn’t they be stylish? Why shouldn’t they feel aspirational, giftable, or worth keeping?
Fueled by that question, Kirsty and her team set out to fill the gap no one else had noticed. Their vision?
To make small daily indulgences beautiful. To design with intention. To turn a moment of refreshment into an experience worth sharing.
Motif’s brand values orbit around three constants: design, creativity, and sustainability. Everything from the artwork on each tin to the craftsmanship inside reflects a commitment to thoughtful, long-lasting quality. Their products aren’t just consumed; they’re collected, displayed, and enjoyed.

Inspiration everywhere
Each Motif launch typically features eight new collections, alongside special seasonal editions. Inspiration flows from everywhere: cultural cues, nature, art, mood, expression, even collaborations with external artists who bring new dimensions to the brand.
This merging of internal artistry and guest design voices has become a Motif signature. It keeps the brand fresh, unexpected, and endlessly expressive.
While many chocolate brands have moved into design-led packaging, the result is still ultimately disposable. Mints, meanwhile, tend to rattle around the bottom of a bag in flimsy plastic.
Motif saw this overlooked space and seized it, not only improving the product, but reimagining what kept items could look like. Beautiful tins that feel like accessories. Objects you want to display. Little pieces of art that can be kept, reused, and cherished.
Designing products people want to keep has been the biggest reward for the Motif team. Seeing customers treasure their tins by refilling them, styling them in their homes, gifting them — is proof that the brand’s ethos is resonating.
Collaborations with external artists have also been major highlights, offering fresh creative energy and expanding the visual language of the brand.

What’s new: a luxurious hot chocolate launch
While Motif isn’t revealing everything ahead of Top Drawer, they’ve shared a sneak peek of their newly launched Hot Chocolate range and it’s every bit as irresistible as their iconic mints.
Crafted ethically in Colombia using fine single-origin cocoa, the blend combines 45% real chocolate with cocoa powder for a velvety, indulgent drink. Naturally, the experience is elevated by Motif’s signature tins, elegant, tactile, and designed to keep the cocoa fresh for longer.
Kirsty’s personal favourite? Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate — a harmonious balance of rich chocolate, mellow caramel, and a subtle salted edge, all wrapped in beautifully considered packaging.
Sustainability isn’t a marketing note for Motif, it’s a core principle.
Their tins are built to last, designed for reuse, and made with materials chosen for durability and lower environmental impact. They partner with responsible suppliers and continuously refine their processes to keep sustainability at the heart of everything they do.
Kirsty’s message to those starting out is simple and powerful:
Stay true to your vision. Don’t chase trends. Focus on the details that make your brand yours.
In a world full of noise, the brands that stand out are the ones that offer something genuine, thoughtful, and beautifully made.
Motif brings something rare to the market: a fusion of artistry, craftsmanship, flavour, and sustainability all wrapped in a pocket-sized design object. Their collections remind us that the small things in life can spark the most joy, especially when crafted with intention.
Visitors to Top Drawer S/S26 will get the first look at Motif’s newest designs, and trust us you’ll want to see (and taste) what they’ve been working on.
